RIVER GAMBIA CRUISE TO KUNTA KINTEH ISLAND
A full day journey along the river Gambia to Kunta Kinteh Island
This is a full day excursion based on the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and the book “roots” by Alex Haley. The highlight of the tour is the cruise along the majestic River Gambia, the visit to Kunta Kinteh Island and the associated institutions pertaining to the slave trade. The means of transport will be a motorized piroque with a capacity for 25 guests and equipped with facilities such as clean workable flush toilets, an upper deck and lower deck with confortable seats. Departing from Denton Bridge at 08:30, we embark on a three hours cruise to Kunta Kinteh Island. From the Island we embark onboard and cruise for 30 minutes to Albreda on the south Bank of the River to visit the slave museum and Juffureh, the ancestral home of Kunta Kinteh, the central character in the Book “Roots”.
After the visit, we walk back to our boat and cruise back Denton Bridge. Lunch will be served on the way back. Estimated time back will be by 17:30.

MAKASUTU CULTURAL FOREST
Into the Wild: Discovering the Magic of Makasutu Forest in a full day
This is a full day tour to Makasutu, the leading cultural forest in The Gambia. Makasutu is situated in the Kembujei village, some 50 km away from Banjul. The highlight of the tour is the walk within the forest and the canoe trip within the creeks or the tributaries within The River Gambia, using out Canoes. It is a chance to be exposed to the fauna and flora of The Gambia.
Departing from the Hotels we embark on a 40 minutes’ drive to Makasutu and proceed on a leisure walk within forest escorted by the resident Makasutu tour guides who are very conversant with the forest. After the leisurely walk, we embark on our dugout canoes and proceed on a tour within the creeks, chance to see various facets of birds and wildlife within the mangrove vegetation. After the boat trip, lunch will be served, followed by a cultural entertainment. Estimated time back will be 16:30.

This full-day excursion offers an enriching introduction to some of The Gambia’s most significant historical and cultural landmarks. The tour begins with a visit to Banjul, the capital city, where guests explore the National Museum to gain insights into the country’s heritage, traditions, and socio-political evolution. From there, the journey continues to the Banjul Colonial Church, an architectural reminder of the early colonial presence and its lasting cultural influences.
The tour proceeds to Serekunda, The Gambia’s largest and most vibrant town, known for its lively markets, local craftsmanship, and everyday urban life. Afterward, guests travel to Bakau to visit the renowned Crocodile Pool, a sacred site believed to hold spiritual significance and home to dozens of tame Nile crocodiles.

Gambian Heritage Trail (2 Days)
Exploring a two day tour of ancient cultures, island history and authentic community life
This two-day excursion combines nature, history, and authentic cultural experiences. Upon arrival, guests head straight out for hippo spotting along the River Gambia, followed by lunch and relaxation at the guesthouse. In the early evening, the tour continues with a visit to the Slave Museum, offering insight into the island’s role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The day ends with light entertainment and an overnight stay in a local guesthouse.
On the second day, guests enjoy an immersive family visit, gaining a firsthand experience of real Gambian traditions, daily life, and community culture. After this enriching encounter, guests return to their hotel or resort, concluding the tour.
